About

This blog is about all things related to BBC One’s show “Sherlock”.

For those unfamiliar with the show, it’s Sherlock Holmes, set in modern-day London, with Sherlock being a young man in his mid-30s and very much tech-savvy. Sherlock is portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch (Hawking, Star Trek Into Darkness, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) while his friend and flatmate, ex-army captain Dr John Hamish Watson is played by Martin Freeman (The Office, Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, The Hobbit).

Sherlock and John

Mr. Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch, left) and Captain John Hamish Watson, M.D. (Martin Freeman, right)

The show is written by Steven Moffat, Mark Gatiss and Steve Thompson, who are also behind the show Dr Who.

This blog will be a collection of all things Sherlock. That will include pictures and videos of the actors as well as the characters; fan fiction (including the smutty kind – warning will be given); Fan Art (again – some of it might not be PG); news from the set (called “Setlock” – expect spoilers) and generally anything that is in some way connected to the show.

Now, do’t get me wrong, I’ve always been a Sherlock Holmes and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle fan, but since seeing this show, I cannot imagine Sherlock Holmes any other way. I don’t think the casting could have been more brilliant – Benedict and Martin have such a chemistry between them, that you can immediately feel the strong bond between Sherlock and John (and yes, they are Sherlock and John, instead of  Mr. Holmes and Dr. Watson in this version). The show is intelligent, witty, highly entertaining and incredibly detailed. It also has some of the best script I’ve ever come across and that’s saying something!

  1. I stumbled across your lovely blog quite by accident, trying to find a comment someone had posted to me re: GRACE…I am skyfullofstars (on AO3 it’s skye with an ‘e’) and my heart is threatening to pound out of my chest. Not only am I amazed at your incredibly kind mention of my Sherlock trilogy, but you actually created ART for it, ie, John’s dogtags! Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU a hundred times over. I have ceased being astonished by the incredible generosity of this fandom but when I find my words shared with others, as you have been kind enough to do, I have no words. Just … speechless. Ch. 17 of ANGELS is nearly done. Our daughters and I have had a difficult time since losing their Dad…my loving husband and constant companion …but he wanted me to keep writing and keep writing I shall. Thank you again, my friend, from the bottom of my heart for your thoughtful mention! ‘sky’

    • Hello Karen “sky”,

I am so glad you liked my review! I’m thebakerstreetgirl on Fanfiction (just bakerstreetgirl on AO3) and we’ve emailed the other day about your trilogy! The offer to brit-pik still stands.

You are so very welcome for the review and the dog tags art. I thought the dog tags symbolised the trilogy quite well 🙂 If you want to share them with your followers please do, I’d be honoured.

Once again, my heartfelt condolences to you and your family at this difficult time. Please don’t rush back, take all the time you need! x

      • Yes I thought it was you but I was a bit hesitant as there are a couple of urls with “Baker Street” in them and I didn’t want to presume until you said something.

It was lovely.  Thank you again so very much.

        Karen
